Lebanese Army Commander Hosts Dutch Defense Chief During Official Visit
Lebanese Army Commander Major General Rudolf Heikal received Dutch Defense Chief General Onno Eichelsheim for a visit from June 21 to June 23, 2026.

Major General Rudolf Heikal, Commander of the Lebanese Army, welcomed General Onno Eichelsheim, Chief of Defense of the Netherlands, at his office in Yarzeh. The visit, conducted at the invitation of Major General Heikal, took place from June 21 to June 23, 2026.
Following official honors, General Eichelsheim laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the courtyard of the Ministry of National Defense. The ceremony was attended by the Army Commander and the staff leadership, followed by a symbolic military parade.
The meeting included discussions on the general situation in Lebanon and the region amid current developments, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries’ armies. Major General Heikal expressed his appreciation to the Dutch authorities for their ongoing support to the Lebanese Army.
Separately, General Eichelsheim praised the Lebanese Army’s role in maintaining security and preserving stability in Lebanon, affirming his country’s continued support for the army under the current exceptional circumstances.
