The Lebanese Army’s Directorate of Guidance issued a statement denying allegations of detainee torture and shootings by soldiers, stating the circulated videos are several years old and that appropriate measures were taken at the time.

The Lebanese Army’s Directorate of Guidance has issued an official statement addressing recent social media activity involving video clips circulating across certain accounts.
The clips are accompanied by claims of torture inflicted on detainees and of soldiers opening fire on individuals.
The Army leadership clarified that the footage in question is dated, having been recorded several years ago, and confirmed that necessary measures were implemented at the time of the incidents.
The statement further warns that the current re-circulation of these videos seeks to incite public hostility against the army, damage its reputation, and generate internal tension in Lebanon in service of suspicious objectives and narrow sectarian interests.
