Lebanese Foreign Minister Affirms Full UN Cooperation Amid Regional Talks

Lebanese Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriates Yusuf Raji received Jean Arnault, Acting Special Coordinator of the UN Secretary-General for Lebanon, in an introductory visit marking Arnault’s assumption of his new duties in the country.

Raji extended best wishes to Ambassador Arnault for success in his new role and affirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its relevant departments to engage in full cooperation with the United Nations. He emphasized the significance of multilateral diplomacy and the UN’s active international role in Lebanon.

UN Coordinator’s Assessment of Lebanon’s Needs

Arnault stated that Lebanon has suffered greatly and continues to do so, stressing the country’s need for high-quality, unconditional international support. He indicated that delivering such support would be central to his mandate in the period ahead.

The meeting addressed Lebanon’s current situation and broader regional dynamics. Arnault shared his impressions regarding prospects for a resolution, based on consultations he conducted during a recent tour of several regional countries.
