Lebanon Declares Official Mourning for Former Emir of Qatar

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam issued Administrative Memorandum No. 17/2026 to declare official mourning in response to the death of the former Emir of Qatar. The memorandum stated:

"On the occasion of the passing of Lebanon’s great friend, the late His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who departed to the mercy of God on Sunday, 2026/7/12.

Official mourning is declared, and flags hoisted at all public administrations, institutions, and municipalities are to be lowered. Regular programming on radio and television stations will be adjusted to reflect the solemn nature of this occasion, effective from this date until Wednesday, 2026/7/15 inclusive.

May God envelop the late dignitary with His vast mercy and grant him spacious gardens in paradise."
