Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a meeting at the Grand Serail to follow up on work progress and preparations for the launch of commercial flights from President Rene Moawad – Qlayaat Airport. Attendees included Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, Head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Body Captain Mohamed Aziz, Advisor to the Minister of Public Works and Transport Lawyer Hadi Moussa, Head of Airport Security Unit Brigadier General Fadi Kafouri, Chairman and Director General of Beirut International Airport Authority Engineer Mohamed Chattiela, Mohamed Al-Haj Shihadeh, Director General of Roads and Buildings Engineer Pierre Maalouf, Member of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Body Dr. Rabie Khatib, Chairman of Sky Lounge Services Ziad Menla, and Engineer Kamal Nasr El-Din.
Salam affirmed that "the reopening of Qlayaat Airport is no longer a project under preparation, but a track that has entered the final stage of implementation. What is required today is to complete the remaining steps with the necessary speed, without any laxity in technical and security standards, leading to the launch of commercial flights from it next month. This project constitutes a practical step towards balanced development, revitalizing economic activity in Akkar and the North, and strengthening transport infrastructure in Lebanon".
