Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani convened an extensive meeting at his office with inspection companies operating in the agricultural export sector. This gathering is part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to strengthen the monitoring system for Lebanese agricultural products and to develop export procedures in line with the highest international standards.

The meeting focused on discussing the establishment of a unified and comprehensive regulatory mechanism that aligns with the best globally recognized practices and standards. This mechanism aims to enhance the quality and safety of Lebanese agricultural shipments, particularly those exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as to various Arab and international markets.

This session is part of the implementation of the full traceability program for agricultural products that the Ministry of Agriculture is preparing to launch. The program is designed to track agricultural products through all stages of the production and marketing chain, following the "From Farm to Fork" principle, ensuring maximum transparency and accountability. It also seeks to strengthen consumer and trade partner confidence in Lebanese agricultural products.

During the meeting, Minister Hani emphasized that "developing a unified and advanced regulatory system is a fundamental priority within the Ministry’s vision to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance its governance." He stressed that "food safety and the quality of agricultural products constitute the true gateway to boosting the competitiveness of Lebanese products, preserving the sustainability of export markets, and opening new markets for national production."

He further noted that "adopting an integrated regulatory system based on full traceability of agricultural products is a core pillar of the national agricultural strategy. It contributes to consumer protection, strengthens external market confidence in Lebanese production, and consolidates Lebanon’s image as a producer of safe and high-quality food."

Minister Hani also highlighted "the importance of partnership and coordination among the Ministry of Agriculture, inspection companies, the private sector, and exporters to build a modern and effective export system that meets increasing international requirements and ensures the sustainability of Lebanese agricultural exports while enhancing their presence in regional and global markets."

The attendees agreed to continue technical coordination in the upcoming phase to complete the preparation of the unified regulatory mechanism and implement it. This effort aims to meet the demands of external markets and reinforce the standing of Lebanese agricultural products along with importer confidence in them.
