Ministry of Economy Calls for Participation in Public Auction to Sell Beirut Port Silos Scrap

The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced in a statement the "holding of a public auction for the sale of Metal Scrap and cleaning the silos premises from explosion residues and removing rubble, six years after the Beirut Port explosion and what it left behind of large quantities of scrap and rubble, in accordance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Law, and after completing the necessary studies and surveys by the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) in cooperation with experts from the Ministry of Environment.

The project does not target the silos themselves nor affect their main part listed on the General Inventory Register, but rather addresses a field reality that has persisted since the explosion occurred and focuses on removing scrap, rubble, and residues that occupy the site's premises and prevent its cleaning and utilization, while preserving the privacy and symbolism of the place and respecting the memory of the victims and the feelings of their families.

According to the terms and conditions document, the auction is based on price submissions, and the highest price per ton of scrap is adopted in the evaluation, provided that the required conditions are met.

As for the contract execution period, it was set at 200 working days, starting from the date the bidder is notified of the permission to commence work in writing by the administration, with works to be carried out during the official working hours approved at Beirut Port, or outside them with written permission from the port management.

Regarding deadlines, October 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM was set as the date for the mandatory visit, while October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM was set as the final deadline for submitting bids, with bids to be opened on the same day at 12:00 PM.
