Ministry of Economy Issues 14 Violation Reports Against Private Generator Owners
The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced the issuance of 14 violation reports against private generator owners in North Lebanon and Beirut for failing to comply with official electricity tariffs.

The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced that "in line with its ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights and tighten control over violations, it continued its intensive monitoring campaigns on private generator owners. Yesterday's Monday rounds resulted in the drafting of 14 violation reports in the North, Beirut, and their suburbs, with the support of security forces and under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
In the North, the Directorate of Economy and Trade conducted monitoring patrols in Tripoli and its suburbs, resulting in the drafting of 10 violation reports against private generator owners for failing to adhere to the official tariff set by the Ministry of Energy and Water, after it was found that they were charging fees ranging between 70 cents and one dollar per kilowatt/hour.
The Directorate also drafted two violation reports against generator owners in the towns of Dhahr al-Ayn and Al-Nakhla - Koura district, bringing the total number of reports issued in the North to 12.
In Beirut and its suburbs, the Ministry of Economy and Trade patrols, supported by the General Security apparatus, continued their monitoring rounds on generators that had previously been cited for violations or seized/detained, to verify the extent of compliance by their owners in correcting violations, particularly the installation of meters and adherence to the official tariff of the Ministry of Energy and Water.
The round resulted in the release of one generator from detention after the committed violations were corrected, while two violation reports were drafted against a generator owner for incomplete meter installation, and another for failure to deliver bills to subscribers and non-compliance with the official tariff of the Ministry of Energy and Water.
The Ministry affirmed that "its monitoring rounds on generators are ongoing, with no leniency in detecting violations and taking legal action against violators, ensuring the protection of subscribers' rights."
While recalling the slogan "Every citizen is a monitor," the Ministry renewed its request for "citizens and consumers to file complaints against any violations they observe, either through its electronic application (MoET Digital Services) or via the Consumer Association-Lebanon hotline (01750650)."
