The Media Office of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education stated in a press release that "the ministry has been following up on the issue of Lebanese students who faced difficulties with the acceptance of Lebanese school certificates by several Egyptian universities, out of concern that the exceptional conditions accompanying the official examinations in Lebanon would not affect students' right to continue their university education."

It noted that "the Lebanese Embassy in Egypt contacted Director General of Education Fadi Yarak to follow up on the matter and work towards a swift solution enabling Lebanese students to complete their registration procedures and join their universities," adding: "As clarified by the Lebanese Embassy in Cairo, it had received inquiries about two weeks ago regarding a number of Lebanese students who had initiated registration procedures at Egyptian universities after facing an issue related to the acceptance of Lebanese school certificates. Ambassador Al-Halabi immediately contacted the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Central Administration for Foreign Students Affairs, to present the case and explain the circumstances that led to the cancellation of official examinations in Lebanon and the issuance of certificates for students instead of official diplomas. The embassy explained that the Egyptian side showed understanding of the circumstances leading to this situation, especially since students were threatened with losing their academic year after they and their families incurred significant expenses to move to Egypt and secure housing. Official contacts resulted in the acceptance of registration for Lebanese students holding certificates due to the cancellation of official exams and the issuance of certificates in accordance with the law. The embassy also confirmed that this resolution was the result of official contacts and direct follow-up with the relevant Egyptian authorities."

The Ministry of Education affirmed that it "continues to monitor this file in coordination with the relevant Lebanese and Egyptian authorities, based on its responsibility to protect the rights of Lebanese students and ensure that their educational path is not disrupted due to the exceptional conditions experienced during the academic year, and to address any issues related to documents issued by the ministry in accordance with the adopted legal frameworks."
