The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that it continues, under the supervision of Minister Faiz Rasamny, to implement an extensive program for rehabilitating roads and infrastructure in South Lebanon. This includes the districts of Tyre, Sidon, Jezzine, Nabatieh, Marjeyoun, and Hasbaya, prioritizing areas affected by Israeli attacks and vital axes serving residents and connecting towns to essential facilities.

The program includes completed projects and others still under implementation and follow-up, ranging from paving and maintaining roads and addressing war damage, to constructing temporary crossings and retaining walls, rehabilitating structures and stormwater drainage networks, in addition to improving traffic safety on main and internal roads.

In the Tire Falssiyeh area in the Tyre district, the ministry is carrying out intensive field works to create a water ferry and a temporary alternative crossing to the bridge destroyed by airstrikes, in full coordination with the Litani River Authority and relevant parties.

The project aims to restore connectivity between the two banks of the Litani River and facilitate the movement of citizens and machinery between the Sidon and Zahrani areas and the Tyre district, especially for transporting agricultural products and supplies, until the permanent bridge is rehabilitated and put back into service.

In the Marjeyoun district, paving has been completed on the road extending from the Sawana intersection towards Touline, specifically in the Fator area, which is a border zone affected by Israeli attacks. This road directly connects the two towns and provides access to the official school in Touline, facilitating the movement of residents and students, particularly during winter. The works also include the Ibl al-Saqi – Marjeyoun axis to address war damage and improve road readiness.

In the Tyre district, paving of the main entrance to Bdeias village and the road connecting it to Burj Rahal has been completed, funded by the ministry and supervised by the Regional Directorate of Public Works in the South. These works contribute to improving connectivity between Bdeias, Halousiya, and Burj Rahal, and facilitating daily mobility for residents. Interventions also include improving stormwater drainage on the international road at the entrance to the city of Tyre, to reduce water accumulation and associated risks to traffic flow.

In the Sidon district and the Zahrani area, rehabilitation programs cover the roads of Al-Ma'mariya, Khuzayr, Adousiya, and internal roads in Abra, alongside planning the coastal road on the Sidon – Siniq axis, and structural rehabilitation of the Shamsiya Bridge in the Aqbiya locality, to enhance its safety and ensure continued use.

On the coastal highway extending from Khalda to Naqoura, works include cleaning roads and drainage channels and removing obstacles, as well as installing protective equipment in critical locations in the Ramila area to improve traffic safety.

In the Nabatieh district, rehabilitation and maintenance works include the Zabdin – Shoukein road and the Ain Qana – Jbaa axis, involving excavations and necessary works to treat damaged sections and facilitate traffic flow between towns.

In the Jezzine district, projects include the Kfarfalus – Karakha and Kfarfalus – Wadi al-Limoun axes, the northern entrance to Wadi al-Limoun, and the road leading to the Patriarchate in Kfarfalus, aiming to rehabilitate local roads and improve access to neighborhoods and public facilities.

In the Hasbaya district, projects are distributed across the roads of Hasbaya, Faradis, and Mims, and the axes of Hasbaya – Ain Qniya – Sheba, Ain Jarfa – Faradis, and Ain Jarfa – Ain Qniya, and roads connected to Shwayya. They also include the Mari – Dahairajat road and the Khalla – Bir Ismail Hamdan – Professional Intersection axis leading to the vocational institute.

Road works in the district are accompanied by engineering reinforcement projects, including the construction of cyclopean retaining walls in Faradis and Mims, particularly on the Mims – Al-Qati' road connected to the international road, and the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall in Ain Qniya, to protect road sides and stabilize structures where necessary.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport confirmed the continuation of its workshops in various southern regions according to field and technical priorities, to ensure continuity of mobility and meet the needs of residents, especially in border towns and those affected by the war.
