Nabih Berri: Positions Aligned with Qatari Prime Minister
Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri met with Qatari PM and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, confirming identical positions on Lebanese sovereignty, Israeli aggression, and national unity.

Speaker of the Parliament received the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and his accompanying delegation at the Second Presidential Palace in Ayn al-Tineh. The meeting was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the Media Advisor to the Speaker of Parliament, Ali Hamdan. The discussion covered developments in Lebanon and the region, political and field updates in light of Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon, as well as Lebanese-Qatari relations.
Berri conveyed to the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the gratitude and appreciation of the Lebanese people for Qatar and its Emir for their constant support of all of Lebanon, particularly the south. He highlighted Qatar's commitment to supporting Lebanon's sovereignty, liberating its entire territory from Israeli occupation, facilitating the return of displaced persons to their villages and towns, assisting Lebanon's recovery across various sectors, and contributing to reconstruction efforts.
Berri affirmed the alignment of positions with the Qatari minister regarding the importance of strengthening internal national unity and supporting institutions, especially security ones, led by the Lebanese Army, which is considered the guarantor and protector of these principles.
He also received the new Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Lebanon, Tameem Hany Abdel Moneim Khilaf, in a protocol visit marking the assumption of his new duties as ambassador to Lebanon. The visit also served as an opportunity to review general conditions in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Khilaf spoke after the visit, stating: I was honored today to meet with the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, in our first encounter since my appointment as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the sister Lebanese Republic, following the presentation of my credentials yesterday to His Excellency President General Joseph Aoun.
He added: My meeting with the Speaker clearly reflected the special nature of Egyptian-Lebanese relations and the depth of historical and fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries. I assured the Speaker of my aspiration to elevate bilateral relations during the coming period in priority sectors.
He continued: I reaffirmed the constants of Egypt's position regarding developments in Lebanon, full support for maintaining security and stability in Lebanon, complete rejection of any infringement on Lebanon's territorial integrity, and the necessity of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
He added: It was also emphasized that Lebanese national institutions, headed by the Lebanese Army, must be empowered to extend their control over all Lebanese territory, ensuring no violation of Lebanon's unity and territorial integrity. I seize this opportunity to thank Speaker Nabih Berri and look forward to enhancing bilateral relations in the upcoming period.
He concluded: The meeting also addressed economic recovery and reconstruction in Lebanon. I confirmed the full readiness of Egyptian companies, the Egyptian government, ministries, agencies, and various institutions to provide all forms of support to the Lebanese state in health, electricity, and energy sectors. God willing, there will be intensive activity in Egyptian-Lebanese relations and an elevation of bilateral ties in the near future.
The Speaker of Parliament also followed up on general conditions, particularly security matters, field developments, and military institution affairs during his reception of the Army Commander, General Rodolphe Heykal.
