Israeli President Isaac Herzog described the morning as "very difficult and painful," expressing deep sorrow over the killing of four Israeli soldiers in battles in Lebanon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will maintain its security zone in southern Lebanon as long as necessary to protect northern Israeli towns.
He added that Israel will not tolerate attacks on its soldiers and vowed to make Hezbollah pay a very heavy price.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, said that a ceasefire will begin only when Hezbollah stops firing and killing.
