Prime Minister Nawaf Salam wrote on his account on the "X" platform:

"No leniency and no overlooking, but truth and accountability.

It is known that days ago, a truck was stopped in Baabda heading from the Bekaa Valley to the Greater Beirut area containing hundreds of kilograms of explosive materials, including highly explosive C-4 material.

I would first like to salute the security forces who stopped the suspicious truck, seized the explosive materials it was loaded with, and referred its drivers to the competent authorities for investigation.

I understand the anxiety felt by Lebanese people regarding the news of stopping this truck and what it was transporting, especially since C-4 material has been used in several notorious political assassination operations in modern Lebanese history.

But from my position as Prime Minister, I ask all Lebanese to be confident that we will not hesitate to follow up and expand the investigation to identify every person involved in this criminal operation, those behind them, reveal their plans and objectives, and bring them all to justice so they receive the punishment they deserve.

And rest assured also that our government will not tolerate anyone who dares to tamper with the country's security, safety, and stability, nor will it fail to deal firmly with any weapon outside the framework of legitimacy, whether possession, transport, or use."
