Patriarch Nona Calls Lebanon Our Strategic Depth

President Joseph Aoun received Patriarch Paulos III Nona, the Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq and the world, and congratulated him on his election as patriarch. The president underscored the role of Christians in the Middle East and highlighted the significance of Islamic-Christian coexistence. He noted that the departure of Christians from the region due to wars resulted in the loss of moderation there.

During the meeting, Patriarch Nona told President Aoun, "Lebanon is our strategic depth, and its stability is our stability and the stability of the countries in the region."
