President Joseph Aoun met with Army Commander General Rudolf Heikal to discuss military cooperation and affirmed that defamation attempts will not impact the army's duties.

President Joseph Aoun received Army Commander General Rudolf Heikal and was briefed on the outcomes of his recent visits to Turkey and the United Kingdom, which focused on military cooperation between Lebanon and those countries.
The president and General Heikal reviewed the security situation in Lebanon and discussed the army's upcoming missions in light of the results from the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations and the resulting "framework agreement" aimed at ending the war in Lebanon.
In this context, President Aoun praised the role played by the army's leadership, officers, and personnel in extending state authority, maintaining security and stability, controlling borders, and protecting civil peace. He emphasized that the military institution and its leadership will not be affected by periodic campaigns of doubt and defamation, affirming their continued national commitment to political authority decisions and the confidence placed in them by officials and the Lebanese people.
