President Aoun Explains His Choice of Negotiations and Anticipates Positive Outcomes from Meeting Trump
President Joseph Aoun stated his preference for negotiations to protect Lebanon and expects his upcoming meeting with Donald Trump to benefit the country.

President Joseph Aoun declared that he chose negotiations because he could not remain a bystander while his country was being driven towards ruin to serve the interests of another nation. He emphasized the necessity of taking an action capable of halting the Israeli destruction and extermination machinery, reducing losses in lives and villages, and ultimately ending the occupation.
Addressing a delegation from the International Union of Lebanese Businessmen and Businesswomen, the president noted that this step has the support of the majority of Lebanese, including members of the Shiite community, which bore the heaviest toll in the southern wars.
He added that they remain committed to the decision taken and urged Lebanese citizens to maintain their faith in Lebanon, expressing confidence that matters are moving in a positive direction despite obstacles and difficulties, affirming that nothing is impossible in their ethos.
President Aoun also expressed expectations that his upcoming visit to Washington and meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump will bring benefits to Lebanon. He described this as a reflection of unprecedented American interest in Lebanon and the United States' support for a permanent resolution to the series of Israeli wars and attacks on Lebanon, as well as achieving stability throughout the Middle East region.
