President Aoun Offers Condolences on Passing of Former Qatari Emir
President Michel Aoun expressed sorrow over the death of former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, highlighting his contributions to Lebanon.

President Michel Aoun conveyed his deep sorrow and grief over the death of the former Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing his passing as a significant loss for Qatar, Lebanon, and the Arab world.
He stated that Lebanon, both its leadership and people, remember with respect and loyalty the sincere fraternal stances the late Emir took toward the country, especially during the Israeli aggression in July 2006. Under his leadership, Qatar stood alongside Lebanon during one of its darkest periods and helped alleviate the suffering of its people.
Lebanon also highly values the initiatives launched by His Highness in the reconstruction of Lebanese villages and towns damaged by the war. These efforts embodied deep Arab solidarity and a spirit of responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on the Lebanese collective memory. The late Emir was devoted to Lebanon and played an active role in bridging differences among Lebanese factions. He initiated significant reconciliation efforts, notably sponsoring the 2008 Doha Conference, which ended a critical phase in Lebanon’s modern history, restoring political life to constitutional institutions and security across Lebanese regions.
President Aoun extended his heartfelt condolences to the late Emir’s son, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who continues his father’s legacy in supporting Lebanon and launching commendable political and humanitarian initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in Lebanon and ending the suffering of its people. He also offered condolences to the family and admirers of the deceased, expressing Lebanon’s full solidarity with this painful loss and praying that God grants the late Emir vast mercy and bestows patience and solace upon his relatives.
