Prime Minister Nawaf Salam Meets with ESCWA Executive Secretary Rania Al-Mashat to Strengthen Lebanon Cooperation
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a protocol meeting with ESCWA Executive Secretary Dr. Rania Al-Mashat to discuss enhancing collaboration between Lebanon and ESCWA.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), during a protocol visit.
Following the meeting, Al-Mashat highlighted the crucial role the Lebanese government plays during this sensitive period, emphasizing its responsibility in promoting stability and addressing the urgent economic, social, and humanitarian needs of the citizens.
She noted that Beirut’s longstanding hosting of ESCWA has enabled the organization to fulfill its mission of supporting economic and social development.
Al-Mashat affirmed that the current government's vision aligns with ESCWA’s mission, which holds that development is achieved through building strong public institutions, evidence-based policies, and effective governance.
She stressed the importance of continuing close cooperation to serve Lebanon’s priorities and its people, support the establishment of a capable and effective state, and reinforce Lebanon’s historic role as a bridge for dialogue, openness, and regional joint action.
