The Council for Development and Reconstruction announced that, after the Tripoli sanitary landfill exhausted its capacity and the contracted company stopped accepting waste following recommendations from the consulting engineering firm overseeing implementation, unknown parties began entering the landfill by force starting Friday afternoon, October 2, 2026, and dumping waste trucks inside it. This action endangers project facilities and threatens public safety.

Therefore, in the absence of any intervention from authorities tasked with protecting the sanitary landfill, which is considered a public facility, the Council for Development and Reconstruction considers that the parties who performed and will perform these acts bear full responsibility for any malfunction, accident, or damage to the project or public safety.

It should be noted that the Council for Development and Reconstruction had informed all relevant authorities more than a year ago that this sanitary landfill, whose execution was assigned by the Council of Ministers, would exhaust its capacity by the end of August 2026.
