Public Works Ministry: Road Rehabilitation Work Begins on Saturday for Hazmieh–Dahr al-Beydar–Shtora Route

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced in a statement, "the commencement, starting Saturday, September 5, 2026, through one of the contracting companies, of paving, asphalt, and rehabilitation works on the Hazmieh–Dahr al-Beydar–Shtora road, particularly the section extending from the Sougha interchange to the Qab Yias intersection.

Given the importance of this road as a vital transportation artery and essential passage for citizens and domestic and international trade and transport, and in order to implement the works while preserving traffic flow as much as possible, coordination has been established with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, the Governors of Mount Lebanon and Bekaa, and traffic units along the route to manage traffic during the construction period.

Accordingly, starting at 5:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, the following traffic plan will be implemented:

First – Trucks, cargo vehicles, and pick-ups:

Trucks, cargo vehicles, and pick-ups are prohibited from traveling along the international road in both directions, Beirut–Bekaa and Bekaa–Beirut, during daytime hours throughout the construction period.

These vehicles are permitted to travel in both directions via the international road from 5:30 PM until 5:00 AM.

Second – Vehicles heading from Beirut to Bekaa:

Vehicle traffic will be diverted from the Sougha interchange toward Tirsich–Zahle via the old Sougha–Hammamna road.

Third – Vehicles heading from Bekaa to Beirut:

Vehicles will continue to use the international road normally via Shtora–Dahr al-Beydar–Miderj–Sougha.

These measures will apply daily from 5:00 AM to 4:30 PM, after which traffic will return to normal on the international road. Trucks, cargo vehicles, and pick-ups may travel in both directions from 5:30 PM until 5:00 AM.

These works are part of the comprehensive plan being implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to maintain and rehabilitate roads across various Lebanese regions, especially international roads.

The statement added: "While recognizing that these works may cause temporary disruptions to traffic, the Ministry urges citizens and drivers to comply with instructions from Internal Security Forces personnel and with signs and guidance posted at construction sites, contributing to completing the works within the set deadlines, ensuring public safety, and maintaining smooth traffic flow throughout the implementation period.

The Ministry also notes it will issue updates to this statement in due course, according to the progress of the works and any changes to traffic plans."
