Qatar Plans to Build Two Power Stations in Lebanon
Qatar intends to build two power stations in Lebanon over the next three years and sign a 20-year LNG supply deal as part of a proposal to revive the country's struggling electricity sector.

A document seen by Reuters shows that Qatar plans to build two power generation stations in Lebanon over the next three years and sign a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement, under a proposal to revive Lebanon's struggling electricity sector.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani visited Lebanon last week and publicly pledged assistance in reviving its electricity sector.
However, a proposal prepared by the Lebanese and Qatari governments in October 2026, which Reuters reviewed, indicates that the support program includes gas-fired power generation, LNG supply and regasification, renewable energy, battery storage, and regional grid interconnection.
