Rai Receives Security Leaders in the North: We Hope Conditions Will Improve

Patriarch Maronite Cardinal Bechara Peter Raï received a delegation from Internal Security Forces in the north, including Major Milad Nassarallah, commander of the Amioun company, accompanied by his aide Captain Tahan Abu Yunes, Captain Nicolas Nassar from Tanourine, Lieutenant Sharbel Anton from Amioun, Lieutenant Aref Al Ali from Chka, Captain Rafat Awijan from Batroun, and Captain Tony Daoud, commander of the Bashri battalion.

They discussed the security situation in the region, where it was confirmed that conditions are generally calm and stable, and citizens are living in an atmosphere of tranquility and joy during religious celebrations taking place in the area.

The meeting also addressed measures taken by Internal Security Forces during recent religious festivities, particularly the beatification of Patriarch Elias Haddad, with personnel deployed along roads from Mzaar to Aabey and extending to Dimaan, as well as in Hadchit and Bashri, aiming to regulate citizen movement, ensure their safety, and facilitate their participation in the celebrations.

Patriarch Raï expressed appreciation for the role played by Internal Security Forces in serving citizens, affirming to the delegation members that "their presence brings peace of mind." In turn, the delegation expressed gratitude for the spiritual significance of the patriarchal seat and the hope and tranquility it provides. They highlighted Lebanon’s path toward sainthood, emphasizing "the hope and promise these milestones carry for its people."

Patriarch Raï also received a delegation from the General Security in Northern Lebanon, comprising: Captain Hadi al-Hariri, head of the National Security Branch in Northern Lebanon; Captain Azar Chami, head of the General Security Directorate in Northern Lebanon; and Captain Georges Bshara, head of the General Security Center in Bashri, who extended congratulations to His Eminence on the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and inquired about his health, before discussing general conditions in the north, the work of General Security, and the efforts made by security agencies to maintain security, stability, and service to citizens.

The meeting also praised the spirit of solidarity demonstrated by Lebanese people during difficult times, especially in hosting and assisting displaced persons, reflecting the ability of Lebanese citizens—regardless of affiliations or regions—to stand together in times of hardship.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the living conditions of military personnel and staff in security institutions amid the economic crisis, underscoring the need to support the army and security agencies and enable their personnel to continue fulfilling their duties in service to the nation and its citizens.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Patriarch expressed hope that "conditions in Lebanon will improve and security and stability will be consolidated," wishing the delegation success in their responsibilities and reaffirming "the importance of military and security institutions in serving citizens and protecting the country."
