President Joseph Aoun received U.S. Ambassador Michel Issa and members of the U.S. Congress's Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees at Baabda Palace.

The meeting reviewed current conditions and recent developments, particularly the release of a batch of Lebanese detainees from Israeli prisons, as well as preparations for the upcoming round of Lebanon-U.S.-Israel negotiations.

President Aoun thanked Ambassador Issa for his efforts in securing the release of several Lebanese detainees held in Israel, emphasizing "the necessity of continuing to pursue the release of those still remaining, in accordance with agreements reached during the trilateral talks and in follow-up to the framework agreement." The discussion also covered U.S. assistance provided to the Lebanese Army and the appropriations allocated for this purpose in the U.S. Congress.
