Salim Orders Enforcement of Bird Control Measures Around Beirut Airport

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam presided over a ministerial meeting dedicated to monitoring the implementation of Cabinet decisions concerning environmental health, public safety, and aviation security in the vicinity of Rafik Hariri International Airport.

Attendees included Industry Minister Joe Assi Al-Khouri; Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmed Al-Hajjar; Public Works and Transport Minister Faysal Rassamni; Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani; Environment Minister Tamara Al-Zein; Attorney General before the Court of Cassation Judge Ahmad Rami Al-Hajj; Director General of State Security Brigadier General Edgar Laundos; Director General of the Internal Security Forces Lieutenant General Raed Abdullah; Governor of Mount Lebanon Judge Mohammad Makawi; Public Prosecutor of Mount Lebanon Judge Sami Sader; and Chief of Operations at Army Intelligence Brigadier General George Bou Sleebi.

Operational enforcement directives

Pursuant to Cabinet decisions, field-level implementation steps were formally launched. These include an outright prohibition on acquiring or raising birds of any kind within a five-kilometer radius of the perimeter of Rafik Hariri International Airport. Authorities will also take legal action against farms and slaughterhouses operating without valid licenses, as well as those exceeding the scope of their permits or failing to comply with legally mandated conditions and standards.

All measures are to be carried out through coordinated action among the relevant ministries, administrative bodies, and judicial and security authorities.
