Prime Minister Nouf Salam received a delegation from Froun Municipality, led by Mayor Hassan Bzi, with the presence of South Council Chairman Hashem Haydar.
Discussions focused on the town's conditions and residents' needs. President Salam affirmed that restoring life to Froun, as well as other towns and villages in the south, is part of a national goal the state is committed to. The government is mobilizing state institutions’ capabilities to support the return and settlement of residents in their land by ensuring basic living conditions and essential services, addressing urgent needs in coordination with municipalities and relevant parties.
After the meeting, Froun Mayor Hassan Bzi issued the following statement:
"We were honored today by the visit of Dr. Nouf Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon, who invited us at very short notice in response to the town’s and its people’s urgent needs.
The meeting was exceptional and outstanding. We presented to His Excellency various needs of Froun Municipality, and we felt strong cooperation—not only in promises, but he confirmed that work on implementing several demands will begin starting Tuesday.
We, as the municipality and as residents of Froun, thank His Excellency for this generous attention and for the swift invitation that allowed us the opportunity to directly present the town’s situation and its people’s needs.
We discussed a range of key issues affecting our people, whether those still displaced or those who have returned and remain in the town. These include housing units and alternative homes, water supply, roads, retaining walls, provision of a waste collection vehicle, as well as the municipal building and the Lebanese Civil Defense Center.
We also addressed a crucial and complex issue concerning destroyed homes built on public lands, and His Excellency confirmed his commitment to swiftly resolving this matter.
We also discussed the agricultural sector, which holds great importance for the town and its residents. His Excellency affirmed his interest in this file and confirmed that follow-up and action on these demands will begin immediately.
We once again thank His Excellency for his attention to Froun and its people, and we hope this engagement translates quickly into tangible results on the ground."
