Security Forces Discover Tunnel Near Rouissat Area; Military Investigations Underway
Lebanese security forces discovered a tunnel in a pine forest near the Hezbollah-controlled Rouissat area, prompting immediate military intelligence investigations.
MTV learned that security forces found a tunnel in a pine forest adjacent to the new Rouissat area, which falls under Hezbollah's influence. An unidentified individual fled the site immediately upon the arrival of security forces.
Military Intelligence has launched an investigation into this matter.
LBCI reported that Lebanese Army engineering units headed to the forest between Fanar and Zaaitariya to inspect the site, whose nature has not yet been determined as either a tunnel or merely a deep hole. The report confirmed that it is currently impossible to ascertain its purpose or whether it was intended for military use, noting that it is not necessarily linked to any military activity.
Fanar Mayor Michel Salameh told Al Jadeed channel that "initial information indicates that what was found is the beginning of a tunnel being dug in the area."
