The General Directorate of State Security announced the arrest of a network specializing in selling counterfeit gold in the northern region, after a period of monitoring and follow-up operations conducted under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

The Directorate stated that the Northern Regional Directorate received information about an activity suspected of involving fraud and deception through the sale of counterfeit gold, misleading victims into believing it was genuine in exchange for monetary payments.

According to available data, specialized agencies initiated surveillance and intelligence gathering efforts, leading to the identification of the group members and the arrest of the main suspect and two others based on judicial warrants.

Initial investigations revealed that the primary detainee confessed to carrying out transactions involving counterfeit gold in collaboration with others, having convinced victims that displayed items were authentic and offered at attractive prices.

During search operations, a quantity of counterfeit gold and a set of items alleged to have been used in fraudulent activities were seized, while investigations continue under the supervision of the competent judiciary to uncover all individuals involved and determine the number of victims.
