Telecom and Finance Ministers Discuss Customs Evasion on Mobile Phones and Oversight Enhancement
Telecommunications Minister Charbel Hajj and Finance Minister Yaseen Jaber met to address customs evasion on imported mobile phones and improve regulatory oversight.

Minister of Telecommunications Charbel Hajj received Finance Minister Yaseen Jaber, and together they held a meeting with the joint committee from the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Lebanese Customs Directorate to discuss recent developments regarding customs evasion on imported mobile phones and the measures taken to address loopholes and strengthen oversight.
The two ministers reviewed the work of the joint committee tasked with improving and securing operational mechanisms by adopting a single window system aimed at regulating and expediting customs procedures in the future. Regarding past periods, the matter has been transferred to the judiciary.
Additionally, Minister Hajj met with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammed Sultan Al-Sharji, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the telecommunications sector.
