Telecom Regulatory Authority Launches Process to Regulate Internet Subscriptions and Migrate Users to Licensed Networks

The Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA), pursuant to Decision No. 4/2026 issued by its Board of Directors on February 5, 2026, has launched a process to regulate internet subscriptions and migrate subscribers from unlicensed networks to licensed networks.

The Authority clarified that "the process is being carried out in coordination with licensed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and the relevant judicial and security authorities, ensuring an organized and smooth transition for subscribers."

It called on all users connected via unlicensed networks in areas served by Ogero's ten main exchanges to begin the migration process without delay. These areas include: Achrafieh, Hamra, Badaro, Adlieh, Port El Hosn, Ras Beirut, Baabda, Hazmieh, Tripoli Al Mina, and Tripoli Al Bahrassa.

The TRA noted that "a licensed ISP may contact subscribers to arrange the subscription regulation process," urging subscribers in such cases to "cooperate with the provider and submit the required information and documents to complete the transition."

If no licensed provider contacts the subscriber, they can request their current provider to inform them of the name of the licensed ISP serving their area, or consult the list of licensed ISPs and contact one directly to initiate the necessary procedures.

The Authority advised completing the transition as soon as possible to avoid any interruption in internet service, and encouraged viewers to watch its awareness video to learn more about the regulation process and the steps to follow.
