United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that Resolution 1701 still forms the foundational framework for achieving stability in southern Lebanon.
It clarified that the resolution is based on a set of principles, foremost among them respecting the Blue Line, halting hostile actions, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, and establishing full state authority across all Lebanese land.
UNIFIL noted that its role involves supporting Lebanon and Israel in fulfilling their obligations under the resolution, monitoring developments on the ground, reporting violations, and assisting the Lebanese Army and local communities.
