US Ambassador Michel Aoun told mtv that within the Pilot Zone, residents return to their villages while Israel refrains from bombing, and the Lebanese army provides security. Concurrently, the area is cleared of weapons before the effort moves to another zone, aiming to eventually disarm the entire south.

He added, "We explained the Pilot Zone principle to Berri and will present him with a written proposal outlining these points. He told me that he would then accept the Pilot Zone, but as you know about Berri, 'every day he finds a new issue.'"

Aoun further remarked, "We know that Berri speaks on behalf of Hezbollah, but sometimes he makes statements that differ from the party’s, and they discuss among themselves to decide who goes left and who goes right."

According to mtv sources, Aoun continued his off-camera meetings with Berri’s communication channel to discuss the written proposal and provide clarifications aimed at bridging perspectives between the US administration and Berri ahead of the Washington meeting.
