US Ambassador Michel Aoun discussed ongoing Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations, affirming US support and noting President Trump's daily attention to the Lebanese issue.

US Ambassador Michel Aoun met with President Joseph Aoun to discuss the progress of Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations, focusing on resolving the current situation in Lebanon.
During the meeting, Ambassador Aoun expressed the United States' appreciation for the positions President Aoun shared in a recent interview conducted a few days earlier.
He emphasized the importance of officials choosing their preferred path, stating, "It is very important that the official selects what he wants and that we proceed accordingly, especially if it is the only option to end a painful and harsh situation like the one Lebanon is experiencing."
Ambassador Aoun added, "The negotiations are scheduled to resume in Washington, and I want to commend the Lebanese negotiating team for their high professionalism and effectiveness; the team members speak clearly and frankly on the Lebanese file."
He described the events of the previous day as a political message and noted that the United States has decided not to escalate the confrontation further.
The ambassador affirmed that the United States places great importance on the Lebanese issue, highlighting that President Donald Trump frequently discusses Lebanon. "This is an important factor that the Lebanese should consider because the US president follows the Lebanese file daily, especially since President Aoun has chosen negotiations," he said.
He characterized a successful meeting as one that produces positive outcomes and progress, stating, "We believe we are on the right track."
Ambassador Aoun also noted that negotiations may take time, as it is not expected that all issues will be resolved in a single meeting. He added that the continuation of these talks positively impacts the overall course in Lebanon and the region.
