US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said that "Hezbollah has every motive to promote such narratives through anonymous sources," adding: "It can claim whatever it wants, but the money does not exist."

He noted that "Hezbollah received devastating blows and caused suffering for hundreds of thousands of innocent Lebanese people," considering that it "is now trying to save face through false narratives about money flows from Iran."

Pigott stated that "Iran's oil exports are under siege, its currency is in rapid collapse, and the regime looks over its shoulder in fear."

He added: "The United States will continue to strangle Hezbollah's funding sources through sanctions, in parallel with supporting the ability of the legitimate Lebanese government to rebuild the South."

He continued: "Hezbollah has brought nothing but misery to Lebanon and to the people it claims to represent. It ignited a war on behalf of Tehran, causing billions of dollars in damage. Even if this consolation amount were real, it would not be enough."

Pigott concluded by saying: "Under President Trump's administration, Hezbollah will never be able to restore its strength or rebuild its terrorist infrastructure."
