Washington Is Serious... Aoun and Salam Are Convinced!

A source for the online newspaper "Al-Anbaa" said regarding the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations that a growing conviction has taken hold among Lebanon's leadership, particularly President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Najib Salam, that there is no genuine American commitment to pressuring Israel into implementing the framework agreement reached. As a result, a consensus is forming to adopt an escalated position by boycotting these negotiations unless Israel fulfills its obligations under the framework agreement—specifically, the establishment of a ceasefire, withdrawal from designated areas identified as experimental zones allowing entry for the Lebanese army, and the return of displaced persons.

The source added that it is precisely the lack of seriousness in U.S. pressure on Israel that has shifted the official stance of the Lebanese state, noting that if such intent existed, it would not be unprecedented, as the United States previously pressured Israel to halt its aggression in 1956 in coordination with France and Britain.
