The International Monetary Fund announced that "Lebanon must implement a number of essential reforms in the economy and the banking sector to reach a new agreement for obtaining support from the Fund," according to Reuters agency.

The Fund indicated that "Lebanon's path toward concluding an agreement with the Fund requires several different elements."

IMF spokesperson Julie Kozak said during a press conference: "It requires continuous progress in major reforms, including the entry into force of the bank restructuring law, and the enactment of appropriate legislation to address the financial gap in line with international standards."
