The head of the General Confederation of Workers, Bechara Al-Asmar, stated that after the appeal filed by the General Confederation of Workers, the National Social Security Fund, and the union of employees of companies operating the cellular sector in Lebanon, the Council of Ministers decided to comply with the law and request the two cellular companies to pay social security dues.

The head of the General Confederation of Workers, Bechara Al-Asmar, indicated in a statement that "after the appeal filed by the General Confederation of Workers, the National Social Security Fund, and the union of employees of companies operating the cellular sector in Lebanon, against government decision number '6' extending the clearance certificates of the two cellular companies before the State Shura Council, and after the honorable stance of the board of directors of the Social Security Fund and the unions and labor federations within the framework of the General Confederation of Workers, and after the suspension of execution decision issued by the State Shura Council which ordered the suspension of the implementation of the Council of Ministers' decision and the suspension of the implementation of the decree extending the clearance certificates for the two cellular companies, especially since the two cellular companies affiliated with the Lebanese state 'are not clear of dues' from the 'Social Security' entitlements, but rather owe end-of-service settlements resulting from compensation for their workers, we inform the workers in the two cellular companies that the Council of Ministers has thankfully decided to comply with the law and request the two cellular companies to pay the social security dues resulting from end-of-service settlements regarding compensation for workers in the two cellular companies."
Al-Asmar thanked "the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Labor and Communications, the National Social Security Fund, its board of directors, management, technical committee, and employees, and the unions and labor federations for this stance that preserves end-of-service compensation for all insured persons."
