Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri says any Lebanon-Israel agreement requires guarantees, as he ties a potential truce to broader US-Iran talks.

Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stated that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed Lebanon's inclusion in any ceasefire agreement reached between Iran and the United States. This linkage, Berri argued, makes a successful outcome in the ongoing US-Iran negotiations a critical factor for Lebanon's stability.
Berri emphasized that any bilateral agreement between Lebanon and Israel would be meaningless without robust guarantees, citing Israel's history of violating commitments. He pointed out that Israel breached the previous cessation of hostilities agreement even as Hezbollah adhered to its terms. To navigate the current challenges, Berri said Lebanon relies on its internal unity and the support of the Arab world.
The Speaker also highlighted the strength of his working relationship with both the President and the Prime Minister, describing it as solid and essential for maintaining stability. "We hope that the Iranian-American negotiations will reach a positive conclusion soon," Berri added, expressing optimism about the diplomatic track.
