The Israeli army spokesperson clarified that the soldier's behavior deviates completely from the values expected of IDF members, and an investigation will be conducted with disciplinary measures.
The Israeli army spokesperson Ella Waweya wrote on the platform "X": "To clarify, the IDF views this incident with utmost severity and confirms that the soldier's behavior deviates completely from the values expected of IDF members. According to the initial examination, the aforementioned photo was taken several weeks ago. The incident will be investigated, and command and disciplinary measures will be taken against the soldier according to the investigation results."
She added: "The IDF respects freedom of religion and worship, as well as holy places and religious symbols belonging to all religions and sects. The IDF operates against the terrorist infrastructure established by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and has no intention of harming civilian infrastructure, including religious buildings or religious symbols."
