A delegation from the Metn Mukhtars Association, headed by Amin Al-Khoury, visited the patriarchal headquarters in Bkerke. The delegation included, along with association members, a large number of mukhtars from northern Metn, coastal, central, and mountainous areas, where the delegation expressed its full solidarity with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, amid the campaigns and insults he is facing.
Al-Khoury delivered a speech on behalf of the delegation, in which he affirmed that “Bkerke will remain a national and spiritual beacon uniting all Lebanese,” stressing that Patriarch Al-Rahi’s positions represent “the voice of truth, moderation, and the living conscience that does not compromise on the nation’s constants, and accepts nothing less than the establishment of a strong, just state that protects its people and preserves their dignity.”
He pointed out that the mukhtar, by virtue of his position, daily follows the suffering of the Lebanese amid the worsening crises, from economic collapse to social disintegration and the repercussions of war, considering that the Lebanese “are in dire need of the Patriarch’s unifying voice and wisdom, which has always been a compass in the darkest circumstances.”
Al-Khoury affirmed the Metn Mukhtars Association’s absolute rejection of any insult to the Patriarch’s status or any attempt to undermine his national role, calling for assuming national responsibility and avoiding incitement and divisive rhetoric to preserve Lebanon’s unity and stability.
He concluded by stressing the Association’s commitment to the national approach represented by Bkerke, and remaining faithful to its historical path “alongside the truth and everything that unites the Lebanese under the banner of the nation.”
