The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported on Thursday that 12 Israeli soldiers were injured in an attack carried out by Hezbollah militia using a drone that targeted a military site near a border settlement in northern Israel.
The authority stated that two of the injured were described as moderately wounded, while the injuries of the rest of the soldiers were minor, noting that the drone hit an armored personnel carrier, which led to it catching fire.
It added that the attack coincided with several artillery shells falling around the site, resulting in explosions in the area.
It clarified that the Israeli army is investigating the nature of the drone used, amid speculation that it was guided via fiber optics, a technology unaffected by electronic jamming.
At least 9 people were killed on Thursday in Israeli raids on southern Lebanon, according to the Ministry of Health, at a time when Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the "continuous" Israeli "violations" in the south of the country, despite a ceasefire with Hezbollah militia being in effect for about two weeks, calling for "pressure" on Tel Aviv to stop its attacks.
Despite a truce being in effect since 17 April and then extended, following direct talks between the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel in Washington, the Israeli army continues to carry out attacks, particularly in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army spokesperson on Thursday requested the evacuation of eight villages in preparation for their bombardment.
Israel and Hezbollah militia exchange accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement.
Hezbollah militia announces that it carries out operations targeting Israeli forces in southern Lebanon or launches rockets and drones towards northern Israel.
