Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz hinted at the possibility of a new military escalation, stating that Israel "may be forced to act again" against Iran.
The Israeli minister said that Israeli political entities might soon be asked to resume action "to ensure the achievement of the campaign's objectives in Iran."
Katz's statements came shortly after US President Donald Trump hinted at resuming "major attacks" against Iran.
This came, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, today, Thursday, during a ceremony to grant the rank of Major General to the new Air Force Commander.
Katz said that Iran suffered very severe blows that set it back years in various fields, pointing out that US President Donald Trump, in coordination with Benjamin Netanyahu, is leading efforts to complete the campaign's objectives, ensuring that Iran does not turn into a threat to the existence of Israel and the United States and what he described as the "free world" for generations to come.
He added: "We support these efforts and provide the necessary support, but we may soon be asked to act again to ensure the achievement of the objectives."
In a related context, Katz affirmed that Israel is in confrontation with Hezbollah, accusing it of threatening the residents of the North and setting a goal to destroy Israel, pointing out that the party received very severe blows in the past, and that the mission must be completed to ensure the elimination of its threat to the residents of the North and to Israel.
He added that Israel would work to destroy Hezbollah's military infrastructure in the security zone up to the "Yellow Line," as it did in Gaza, reiterating that Trump and Netanyahu are leading efforts to complete the campaign's objectives to ensure that Iran does not turn into a threat to Israel and the United States.
Axios said earlier today that US President Donald Trump is seriously considering resuming major combat operations against Iran, either to try to break the stalemate in negotiations or to deliver a final blow before ending the war.
President Trump is scheduled to receive a briefing on Thursday on new plans for potential military action in Iran from the Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, according to two informed sources who spoke to the website.
Informed sources reported that CENTCOM has prepared proposals aimed at breaking the stalemate in negotiations.
These proposals, according to Axios, include diplomatic and military options to increase flexibility regarding the nuclear file.
Plans are also expected to be discussed concerning ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and opening it to global commercial shipping traffic, while previous discussions included options for securing sensitive sites related to uranium stockpiles.
