President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, announced that "Akkar is the backbone of the military institution, and its sons have always been yearning for the state and were never outside it; rather, the state was sometimes outside the region. But today, it is our duty to give Akkar the necessary attention and carry out the essential development projects for it."

He continued during a meeting with a delegation of heads of municipal unions and mukhtars of the Akkar region: "Soon, a tender will be launched for the operation of Rene Moawad Airport in Qleiaat, as well as a tender for the study of the railway between Tripoli, Al-Abdeh, and Akkar."

He said that "the General Security centers are ready for operation, and the projects for the military hospital and the Lebanese University are under study."

Aoun added: "You are Lebanese, sheltered only by the Lebanese flag and carrying only the Lebanese identity, regardless of your sectarian, denominational, or political affiliation. And as we and you have experienced over the years, we have nothing left but the state, which alone protects us all across the nation. Our country is like a bird with two wings, the Muslim and the Christian; if one of them is broken, it will not be able to fly again. We have seen that in Lebanon, no faction has ever prevailed over another, nor has any faction ever had merit over others; on the contrary, because if the roof of the house falls, it falls on the heads of all the nation's sons."

He continued: "We will preserve Lebanon and will not forget the past so that we do not repeat it in the present or the future. Let this past be a lesson from which we learn, and we must always think that we have always been together in this country and will remain so, and this is our collective responsibility because we cannot say that Lebanon is fine if Akkar or any other region is not fine."

He said that "the appointment of boards of directors for the Special Economic Zone in Tripoli, the Port of Tripoli, in addition to the Rashid Karami Exhibition, will positively reflect on the northern region in general."
