The Ministry of Economy, through its offices in the Bekaa, North, and South, supported by relevant authorities, has intensified its inspection campaigns across various sectors, within the framework of controlling markets and protecting the consumer.
In the Bekaa, the tours included the areas of Zahle and the northern Bekaa, where food materials were destroyed in coordination with customs, and a seizure report was filed against a dairy and cheese production facility due to the presence of expired products.
In the North, the tours of electric generators in Tripoli and its suburbs resulted in the issuance of three seizure reports for violating the official pricing, with cases of charging a high tariff amounting to one dollar per kilowatt/hour recorded. Repeated violations by a number of operators were also monitored, pending their referral to the competent judiciary, while some files are still under investigation.
In the South, a seizure report was filed against a generator owner for violating the official pricing, in addition to following up on additional complaints and conducting audits on some sectors.
The Ministry affirmed "the continuation of its intensive inspection campaigns and the taking of necessary legal measures against violators, to ensure consumer protection and market stability."
