Nawaf Salam responds to Washington: Lebanon does not accept granting Israel "freedom of movement" on its territory
Government sources revealed to "Al-Jadeed" that the atmosphere of the Council of Ministers session was not as tense as some previous sessions.
"Al-Jadeed" information indicated that a discussion took place among the ministers regarding the US State Department statement that granted Israel freedom of movement, and the response of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam was that this position does not represent Lebanon and Lebanon does not accept it.
She added that President Salam said that Lebanon's ambassador to Washington, Nada Maawad, demanded a ceasefire on behalf of Lebanon.
The information continued: "The ministers of the 'Duo' demanded clarification of Lebanon's position on the US State Department statement, and President Salam responded positively, affirming Lebanon's adherence to the demand for a ceasefire and instructed Minister of Information Paul Morcos to speak about this matter in the resolutions."
In this context, diplomatic sources told "Al-Jadeed" about the course of Iranian-American negotiations, that once an agreement is reached, it will reflect on Lebanon, but until then, there will be no real ceasefire in Lebanon.
