Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi received Qatar's ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abd al-Rahman Al Thani, at the patriarchal see of Bkerke. The current local and regional situation and developments were reviewed, with emphasis on "rejecting the language of killing, destruction and violation of human rights and dignity."
Sheikh Saud said after the meeting: "We discussed bilateral relations and appreciated the historical relationship linking Lebanon to Qatar — government and people — and expressed all appreciation and affection for Lebanon and its people."
He added: "We also touched on the Lebanese situation, and Qatar is Lebanon's greatest supporter historically and to this day. There are many projects Qatar is working on in Lebanon. We wish peace for Lebanon and that life returns to what it was before."
