700 Messages Later: Berna Laçin Reveals Truth Behind Custody
Berna Laçin confirms she is well and has acquired a new phone following her release from custody over comments about İzmir.

Following her release from custody, actress Berna Laçin shared a photograph with friends outside the courthouse to confirm her status. She stated that she had purchased a new mobile device because her previous phone remained at the judicial facility, while assuring those who inquired about her welfare that she was fine.

Laçin addresses message volume
The actress began her public statement by apologizing for the brief inconvenience caused to her friends. She emphasized that life is beautiful with companionship and noted the high volume of attempts to reach her during her absence.
Laçin revealed that a single messaging group contained 700 messages. Due to the retention of her original handset at the courthouse, she acquired a replacement device but confirmed that her telephone number remained unchanged. She expressed gratitude to everyone who called or asked about her condition, concluding with the phrase "I am well, thank you."
Detention linked to İzmir remarks
The legal proceedings originated from comments Laçin made regarding İzmir. Following the decision by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay to join the AK Party, the actress used the expression "İzmir was occupied before, don't be afraid!"
The Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the actress on charges of inciting public hatred and enmity or insulting the public. These allegations stemmed directly from the aforementioned statements concerning the city.
Court timeline and release
Authorities detained Laçin in Istanbul on October 7. The following day, she underwent interrogation procedures at the prosecutor's office. Subsequently, she was referred to the criminal judges' court with a request for arrest.
The court ordered her release rather than imposing detention. This development concluded the immediate legal actions taken against her following the controversy surrounding her social media posts.
