Actress Berfin Ant files complaint against ex for choking, threats

Actress Berfin Ant has lodged a formal criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against her former partner, businessman Özgür A. The filing alleges that Özgür A. physically assaulted her by squeezing her throat and issued verbal threats following an encounter outside a venue in Etiler.

The confrontation at the Etiler venue

According to the complaint, Ant was at a nightlife establishment in Etiler with a friend when Özgür A. arrived approximately half an hour later. Around 01:50 AM, as Ant prepared to leave the premises, a companion of Özgür A. approached her, stating that there were matters requiring discussion between the two. Ant reportedly declined, expressing no desire to speak with her ex-partner.

The situation escalated when Özgür A. allegedly followed Ant as she attempted to move away from the location. The actress claims that during this pursuit, Özgür A. began threatening her before physically grabbing her and squeezing her neck. Her friend intervened by stopping a passing taxi, allowing both women to flee the scene immediately after the assault.

Alleged post-incident phone threats

Ant stated in her petition that the harassment did not end with the physical altercation. She alleged that Özgür A. subsequently called her mobile phone to deliver further intimidation. "After the incident, he called me on my cell phone and threatened me by saying, 'I will make Istanbul too narrow for you; I will not let you have peace in this city,'" the complaint reads. Ant formally requested prosecution for the physical and verbal attacks.

Ex-partner denies charges, claims self-defense

In response to the accusations, Özgür A. submitted his own petition through his legal representation, rejecting all allegations of threat and physical assault. The businessman asserted that he was the actual victim of verbal and physical violence during the interaction. His legal team argued that there is no evidence supporting the specific claims made by Berfin Ant regarding the nature of the conflict.
