Brian Austin Green Details DWTS Absence Amid Loneliness Criticism
Brian Austin Green clarified his limited attendance at Dancing with the Stars Season 35, citing production restrictions and family logistics while addressing recent backlash over loneliness comments.

Brian Austin Green has addressed public scrutiny regarding his absence from Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) during Season 35. The actor’s explanation follows criticism triggered by his admission of feeling lonely while his fiancée, Sharna Burgess, competes in the show. Burgess returned to the competition for the first time since 2021.
Production Rules Limit Audience Access
In an October 12 interview with Us Weekly, Green stated he attended rehearsals frequently early in the season. He noted that production subsequently tightened regulations concerning young children on set. This restriction impacts his ability to bring his four-year-old son, Zane, whom he shares with Burgess, along with his three other children from a previous relationship with Megan Fox.
“I can’t be there with Zane and the kids,” Green explained. He described a logistical compromise where family members stay home under supervision when he attends events. “I’m always there, whether I’m sitting in the audience or I’m sitting at home watching. I’m always rooting for [Sharna]. So we figure out from episode to episode what works,” he added.
Adjusting to Competition Schedule
Green, a former contestant on Season 30 of the reality dance series, discussed adapting to Burgess’ return as a professional dancer. She is currently partnered with Tyler Cameron, known for his role on The Bachelorette. The father of five acknowledged the intensity of the routine, stating, “The Dancing with the Stars schedule is a pretty packed one.”
The demanding timetable has altered the couple’s usual daily interactions. Green admitted that reducing their time together required adjustment but characterized the current situation as manageable, noting things are “going OK.” He highlighted that the upcoming six weeks would remain particularly busy if Burgess advances to the finale.
