Bunnie Xo, 46, reaffirmed her intention to become a mother through IVF during a Sept. 3 appearance on the Open Book podcast — even as she navigates life after her May divorce filing from Jelly Roll.

What inspired Bunnie Xo’s renewed hope for motherhood?

When Jenna Bush Hager asked whether she still wanted a child following the end of her marriage, Bunnie responded without hesitation — naming Cameron Diaz as a pivotal source of encouragement.

“You know who inspired me a lot more too is freaking Cameron Diaz,” Bunnie said. “She just had her third child at like 53!”

Bunnie noted Diaz welcomed her first child with husband Benji Madden later in life and now shares three children with him. “I think that’s so inspiring, and I feel like it gives you a purpose later on in life to live for,” she added. “So yeah… I will still have a baby.”

She emphasized plans to pursue the next phase of fertility treatment more privately, citing heightened public scrutiny. “I just feel like I need to keep it close to my chest, especially right now, because everybody just wants to pin like the craziest stuff on me,” she explained. “But it’s still a dream.”

IVF journey timeline and prior statements

Bunnie and Jelly Roll had pursued IVF together before their relationship ended. In January, she described the process as one of the hardest experiences she had gone through. “It’s been rough. It has not been easy, but I know that God has a plan and he’s going to make it work. I really do. I have no doubt in my mind,” she said.

Her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, states the couple began their fertility journey in 2019. Prior to the divorce filing, Bunnie had publicly discussed co-parenting plans with Jelly Roll — though she told Bush Hager she no longer knows whether he will remain involved in her path to motherhood.

Despite the personal changes, Bunnie affirmed her goal remains unchanged — and Diaz’s experience has reinforced her resolve.
