Camilla Backs Andrew to Shield Charles From Reputation Risks
Queen Camilla reportedly supports ex-Prince Andrew to protect King Charles’s legacy amid renewed scrutiny.

King Charles removed the Duke of York’s royal titles following intense media focus on his alleged connections with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Although Andrew denies misconduct in public office and has largely avoided the spotlight, he has reportedly secured backing from his sister-in-law, Queen Camilla. This support, however, may stem from strategic motives rather than pure familial loyalty.
Strategic Alliance Amidst Tension
Camilla’s outreach to Andrew marks a shift from their previously frosty dynamic. Heat World reports that tensions between the two royals have persisted for years. Speculation before Camilla and Charles’ 2005 wedding suggested Andrew viewed her as insufficiently aristocratic for his brother. Camilla also notably skipped Princess Eugenie’s 2018 wedding, citing work obligations.
Recent developments indicate Andrew is actively seeking closer ties with Camilla. A source told Heat World that while Camilla appears more “softened” toward the former Duke of York, her actions are driven by self-interest. The source stated: “Camilla is always looking out for herself, and there’s no denying that an alliance with Andrew could soon come in very handy for her. That is bound to be a big motivator for her, though she’d never admit to that.”
Protecting the Monarchy’s Image
Camilla reportedly recognizes common ground with Andrew and views their developing relationship as a tactical move to safeguard King Charles. With increased scrutiny from Prince Harry’s media activities and Charles Spencer’s controversial memoir, she allegedly fears Andrew poses another threat to the monarch’s reputation. Rather than excusing Andrew’s behavior, Camilla is said to remind Charles that the family cannot afford additional controversies.
By adopting a softer stance, Camilla aims to prevent further damage to her husband’s standing and the monarchy’s public image. This approach suggests her support is calculated to manage potential fallout from Andrew’s ongoing legal and reputational challenges.
